Grand Marina

Cool blog you got here. It would be great to read something more about that theme. The only thing I would like to see on that blog is a photo of some gizmo.

Ah, the intent on this blog was to just showcase images. Grand Marina is an area on the North shore of Alameda, CA, overlooking Coastguard Island and the area of Oakland around Embarcadero.

These images were taken on or around Grand St. There is a Pennzoil bottling plant, which used to be serviced by the Alameda Belt railway. There are plenty of storage tanks and corrugated steel buildings there.

There has long been a boat ramp at the end of Grand, and they are trying to make more residential use of the area around it. The "Cobble stones" are part of the entry way, not only a nice rustic look, but also a wake up call, as there have been several motorists, lost on a foggy night, drive into the estuary.

As for gizmos. I used to play with my macro lens and close up attachments a lot, mostly street furniture, or details of cars. I've never really taken to studio close ups, all mine are taken in situ, and not abstracted.
